Race 1 from the Pirelli French Round was not only WorldSBK’s 800^th race and thus a historic occasion, but also without a shadow of a doubt one of the best races in the series’ history. Frantic, nerve-wracking, emotional… We couldn’t have asked for more!

But somewhat lost underneath all the overtaking was a scary moment for Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK’s Leon Haslam, who fell out from eight position with five laps remaining. A huge highside going out of the final chicane, the Englishman just managed to avoid being propelled wildly over his machine – although that in turn left him falling dangerously close to it as they both careered out of the start-finish straight.
